The sale of the domain name Voice.com for $30 million in cash by MicroStrategy Inc., a worldwide provider of enterprise analytics and mobility software, was announced today after the deal was completed on May 30, OnlineDomain reported Tuesday.
The domain name transaction was facilitated by GoDaddy, the report said.
The domain name was subsequently used by Block.one to launch its new blockchain-based social media platform called Voice, OnlineDomain reported.
Voice.com, the report said, was registered in 2001, most likely after it expired and dropped. MicroStrategy then purchased the domain in May 2005 from someone from China.
Marge Breya, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, MicroStrategy Inc. praised Block.one for a “smart strategic decision in choosing Voice.com to be the internet domain name for its news social media platform,” OnlineDomain reported.
An ultra-premium domain name like Voice.com can help a company achieve instant brand recognition, ignite a business, and massively accelerate value creation,” Breya added.
