The Associated Press reports the editor of a Saudi newspaper has written a story urging Palestinians to keep an open mind toward a Mideast plan being devised by President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner.

Writing in the Arab News Wednesday, Faisal Abbas contended while the Palestinians are the underdogs in the effort to make peace, Kushner’s plan may reverse the situation and make peace more possible, the report said.

The column ran as Palestinians commemorate the “Nakba” or “catastrophe,” marking the mass displacement that led to Israel’s creation, the AP reported.

In his Arab News column, the report said, Abbas wrote there’s a “strong counter argument that it is time to think outside the box.”

He urged Palestinians to “…negotiate hard, and then take what they can to secure a nation state for future generations,” the AP reported.
