The Washington Post reports a suicide bomber in a Humvee rammed a training compound containing the national intelligence agency in Wardak Province Monday, killing scores of Afghan security forces.

Reports say Taliban insurgents claimed responsibility for the attack, the second such brazen attack in the last two days.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, security officials in Kabul told news organizations the death toll could reach higher than 120, with a large number of wounded.

As a result of the massive bombing, the Post reported, the majority of the building in the provincial capital where approximately 150 counterinsurgency troops are based, has been destroyed.

Following the bombing, the newspaper reported, gunmen entered the compound in a truck and began shooting.

In a prior attack Sunday on a government convoy in Logar province, the Post reported, the provincial governor barely escaped and eight of his bodyguards were killed.
