The Washington Post reported in an effort to speed up the denuclearization process, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is anxious to hold a second summit meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, South Korean President Moon Jae-in said Thursday upon his return to Seoul.

Following his own three-day summit with the North Korean leader, Moon said Kim promised to allow external inspectors into his country to verify a missile test and launch site had been permanently dismantled and also pledged to permanently disable an important nuclear site if the United States also takes “corresponding steps,” the report said.

Trump responded saying he was “very excited,” the Post reported, while Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the United States was “prepared to engage immediately” with North Korea to move dialogue ahead.

Moon said Kim wanted Pompeo to come to North Korea, the report said, as well as “…a second summit with President Trump to happen at the earliest convenience in order to speed up the denuclearization process.”

In addition, the Post reported, Moon said Kim told him the closure of a nuclear weapons test site at Punggye-ri could be subject to international verification.

Moon said he would discuss with Trump his and Kim’s goal of declaring an end to the Korean War by the end of this year, the report said.

“Once North Korea takes denuclearization measures, the U.S. needs to guarantee security of North Korea accordingly,” Moon said.
